Index of English Articles by Goenkaji

Over the years Goenkaji has travelled around the world spreading the message of Dhamma. This page is a collection of some of the Dhamma discourses and articles given by him.

Questions and Answers by Goenkaji

In the course of his Dhamma work, begining in 1969, Goenkaji has been asked thousands of questions, by Vipassana students and others all over the world. The questions range a fascinating spectrum from what is Dhamma, Vipassana meditation, aim of life, human misery, God, rebirth to insomnia....

The answers and questions have been broadly categorized under various sections based on the nature of the question. A section at the end, under 'Vipassana Practice', provides clarifications about the practice to Vipassana students.

This is the classic introduction to Vipassana meditation: a full-length study of the teaching of S. N. Goenka, prepared under his guidance and with his approval. Useful for meditators and non-meditators alike.

Weaving together material from many sources, this collection provides a context for understanding death—whether our own or a loved one's—and experiencing it with awareness and equanimity. It features passages from the Pali texts, writings of S. N. Goenka, poems, theoretical expositions, a question-and-answer section, and compelling essays by or about meditators confronting the end of life. With humility, tenderness, and often a smile, they learn to accept their own impermanence, suffering, and nonself. Much of this material was collected from the archives of the International Vipassana Newsletter.
